Brookside Methodist Church, Cats Hill, East Barnet

A Methodist church of 1967 which is in a Local Ecumenical Partnership with the Church of England. An older church of 1930, now a hall, is joined by an entrance area to the post-war church.

Christ Church, St Albans Road, Chipping Barnet

North of the town centre. The church was designed in 1845 by G.G. Scott, with an aisle and porch by W.G. & E. Habershon. The interior has been realigned to face south.

                     
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
 

Mary Immaculate and St Gregory, Union Street, Barnet (Roman Catholic)

Off the centre of Barnet, the church was designed by Lanner of Wakefield in 1977 and was extended towards the road in 2017. It was reopened in September 2017, after a year’s closure. The engraved windows are by Sally Scott. The final pictures are from April 2017, when the whole building was being gutted and the extension added.

Mary Immaculate and St Peter, Somerset Road, New Barnet

Opposite the north side of the Anglican Holy Trinity, this is a church of 1938 by T.H.B. Scott. A simple plan with a day chapel on one side.

         
   
 
   
 

Holy Trinity, Lyonsdown Road, New Barnet

High above the station area of New Barnet, this is a small church of 1865 by Ewan Christian

 
   
   

All Saints, Oakleigh Road North/Myddleton Park, Whetstone

Just east of the town centre, a large church by Joseph Clarke and dating from 1881-83. The chancel contains a decorative scheme by Sidney Gambier-Parry and the incumbant the Rev. Miles. Most of this is by Ward and Hughes.

   
   
    
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

St Mary Magdalen, Athenaeum Road, Whetstone (Roman Catholic)

Just off the High Road in the town centre, it was built in 1958 to designs by W.C. Mangan.

 
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

St John the Apostle, High Road, Whetstone

At the south end of the town centre. It was built in 1832, with James Brooks adding window tracery, roof, chancel and vestry in 1879. The east window is by Morris & Co dating from 1880.

 
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   
   

St Katherine, Friary Road/Friern Barnet Lane, Friern Barnet (Greek Orthodox) formerly St James the Great

In a spacious churchyard very close to Friary Park. It was St James parish church, a medieval building, greatly enlarged in 1852-53 by W.G. & E. Habershon. St James, Station Road, New Barnet

A large church of 1911 by W. Charles Waymouth with the chancel added in the 1930s. The west end is hidden by a large late 20th century extension for offices and meeting rooms.
