Most Holy Redeemer and St Thomas Moore, Cheyne Row, Chelsea (Roman Catholic)

Hidden away south of Kings Road this is a church of 1895 by George Goldie.

St David Welsh Church, St Mary’s Terrace, Paddington (former) now used as a primary school

A Welsh language Anglican church very close to St Mary Paddington Green. It was built in 1896 by C. Evans Vaughan. It has been shared with a French school for some time and was recently declared redundant. It is approached through a gateway at the side of housing.

St George, Aubrey Walk, Campden Hill, Kensington

High on the ridge above Kensington, an 1864 church by “rogue” architect Enoch Bassett Keeling. It has lost its spire and apse but the iron columns and some of the polychrome brickwork have been re exposed in recent times. The rear two bays of the nave are partitioned off for offices and a hall space.

St John the Evangelist, Ladbroke Crescent/Ladbroke Grove

On top of the hill in the centre of the Ladbroke Estate between Ladbroke Grove and Notting Hill. It is a church of 1844 by J.H. Stevens and G.Alexander.

Christ Church, Lancaster Gate, Bayswater (Former)

All that remains is the tower and spire joined to a development of 1983. The church was by F. & H. Francis and dates from 1854-55.

St Panteleimon, Kenton Lane, Kingsbury (Greek Orthodox)

Opened in 2012 and a remarkable byzantine landmark on the borders of Kenton and Kingsbury in north west London. This replaced an earlier building on the site. Looking to the (ritual) west the church is relatively plain but looking (ritual) east it is very rich

St William of York, Du Cros Drive, Stanmore (Roman Catholic)

Some way south of Stanmore town centre in suburbia towards Canons Park. It dates from 1960 and was designed by H.O. Corfiato.

All Saints, Claremont Avenue/Kenton Lane, Kenton (Roman Catholic)

A large A framed church of 1963 by J.W. Sterret & B.D. Kaye side on to Kenton Lane and in Brent by the width of Kenton Lane.

St Mary, Kenton Road/St Leonards Avenue, Kenton

A church from 1936 by J. Harold Gibbons lying side on to Kenton Lane. The interior retains most original fittings, the vista eastwards is complex with a raised Lady Chapel behind the Baldacchino  over the high altar.

St Michael and All Angels, Bishop Ken Road, Harrow Weald

A church of 1958 by T.F. Ford was added to the original church of 1935 that then became a hall. The church has a large mural by Hans Feibusch behind the altar and four smaller ones of the apostles in the spandrels of the nave.


In recent years the further end of the old church has been demolished to give access to a new housing development. The front of the church has gained a glassed narthex and some meeting rooms off to one side.
