St James the Great (former), Bethnal Green Road, Bethnal Green

A large church by Edward Blore 1842-43 on Bethnal Green Road, converted into flats in 1990.

St Anne, Underwood Road, Spitalfields (Roman Catholic)

Built as part of a complex in 1853-55 by Gilbert Blount, with the east end completed in 1894.

St Philip (Former), Newark Street, Whitechapel

Dating from 1888-92 by Arthur Cawston, this large unfinished church is now the Queen Mary University of London Medical School library.

St Boniface German Church, Adler Street, Whitechapel (Roman catholic)

A large church of 1959-60 in a narrow street. The design is by D. Plaskett Marshall and Partners. The bells are from the previous 19th century church.

English Martyrs, Prescot Street, Whitechapel (Roman Catholic)

Designed by Edward Pugin with the work continued after his death by  Pugin and Pugin 1875-76, only the west front is visible as it is hemmed in by other buildings. The mosaics above the door are by Arthur Fleischmann. The high altar is from 1930 as is the huge east window which is by William Earley of Dublin

Christ the Eternal High Priest, Brentwood Road, Gidea Park (Roman Catholic)

A parish founded in 1963. but the church is by Lanner of Wakefield dating from 1974. Since my first visit in 2013, some of the furnishings such as the altar and pews have been changed.

Corpus Christi, Lowshoe Lane, Collier Row (Roman Catholic)

Designed By W.C. Mangan and built in 1964-65. The interior features a large amount of Goddard & Gibbs stained glass.

St James, Chase Cross Road, Collier Row

A hall/church built 1954-1956 well east of Collier Row town centre.

St Cedd (former), Sims Close, Romford

A hall just outside Romford town centre formerly owned by the Royal Association for Deaf People, which has been used for Anglican worship in the past. By 2019 it had become a day nursery

Built in 1958 south-west of Romford town centre. The architect seems unrecorded.
