St Peter and St Paul, High Road, Ilford (Roman Catholic)

Just east of the town centre, an impressive street frontage, but less effective at the side. It was designed by R.L. Curtis and built 1898-99 with aisles added 1904-12 and the tower in 1906-1907.

St Mary and St Erconwald , Ilford Lane, Ilford (Roman Catholic)

An insignificant looking building of 1971-72 by Burles, Newton and Partners.

St Edward the Confessor, Park End Road. Romford (Roman Catholic)

Separated from the market place by the ring road, this church was built in 1856 by David Cubitt Nicholls.

St Agnes, Jutsums Lane, Romford

Built in 1928, a hall church which has not been used for services since January 2017.

St George, Kenilworth Gardens, Hornchurch

Built in 1931 as a hall/church with a slightly more ambitious chancel added later.

St John & St Matthew, South End Road, South Hornchurch

Built in 1957 and designed by Ronald Wylde Associates and reordered more recently to give a flexible use building. The sanctuary can now be placed against either a long or short wall depending upon requirements.

St Peter, Werrington Road, Becontree (now Forward in Faith Ministries International)

Built as a temporary Anglican church by Edward Meredith in 1931. The brick built east end was added in 1958-59 and designed by J.J. Crowe. It was made redundant and taken over by the Zimbabwean Forward in Faith Ministries International.

St Cedd, Lodge Avenue, Becontree

By Thompson & Whitehead, dating from 1964. It replaced a church built in the 1930s.

St Patrick, Blake Avenue, Barking

Built in 1940 and designed by A.E. Wiseman. Its claim to fame is its eastern round tower, in a very Charles Holden style. Subsequent changes have led to many of the windows being partially bricked up. The two apsidal projections contain a Lady Chapel on one side and vestries on the other.

Christ Church, Thames View Estate, Barking

On an estate cut off by major roads from the rest of Barking. It dates from 1958-59.
