The Ascension, Timbercroft Lane, Plumstead
In suburban streets south of the Common, it dates from 1903 and was designed by A.E. Habershon with the west and east ends completed in 1911.

St Paul, Bentham Road, Thamesmead
Some way from Thamesmead’s town centre this building is shared between the Church of England, Roman Catholic, Methodist and URC congregations. It was built in 1976-1978 by Hinton, Brown, Maddon and Langstone.

St Richard (Former), Sundorne Road, Charlton now St Richard’s Church Centre
There was a mission church on the site before this building, principally a church hall, was constructed in 1958 and designed by Ralph Covell. There was a small basement chapel that is now disused and the main hall has been used for services but the building is now only used as a hall.

St Francis (Former), Bannockburn Road, Plumstead now Greenwich Hindu Temple
In a back street north of the town centre, this is a small church of 1909 that is now used as a Hindu Temple. The architect is unknown. It closed at some point in the 1960s or 1970s and was used by the Boy Scouts Association. It has been a Hindu Temple since the early 2000s.

St Nicholas, Plumstead Road, Plumstead
The ancient parish church of Plumstead, some way from the modern centre but pleasantly set on the edge of a ridge with a green separating it from the main road. The west and south walls of the present south aisle (once the nave) and the south transept are medieval. The north aisle (now the nave) was rebuilt in 1818. In 1867-1868 C.H. Cooke restored the building before a large new north aisle and chancel were added in 1907-1908 by Greenaway and Newberry. The brick west tower was constructed in 1662-1664. After WW2 damage the church was restored in 1959 by T.F. Ford and Partners.

St David, Mottisfont Road, Abbey Wood (Roman Catholic)
Well to the north of the station and built to serve a housing estate. The church is by Bernard F. Moss & Partners and built in 1964.

Just south of the station, this is a small church of 1909 by Benedict Williamson.

The Holy Cross, The Slade, Plumstead Common
Built in 1950 by Archard, Worrow & Hardy and originally intended to be a church hall. At first sight it looks like a bungalow and faces across a ravine in Plumstead Common.

St John Fisher, Kidbrooke Road, Kidbrooke (Roman Catholic)
A short way south of the Anglican St James. It was designed by Bingham Towner Associates and built in 1964.

St George, Glenluce Road, Westcombe Park
A big church on the side of a steep hill. The lower level is a hall area now used by a Steiner School. Above most of the aisles have been divided off to provide smaller spaces. The current baptistry was added as a small sanctuary. The church was designed by Newman & Newman, dating from 1890-1991.
