Lithuanian Church of St Casimir, The Oval, Bethnal Green (Roman Catholic)
Part of a rather domestic looking complex just north of hackney Road. It dates from 1912 to the designs of Benedict Williamson.

St Peter with St Thomas, St Peter’s Close, Bethnal Green
In the northern part of Bethnal Green, a church of 1840-41 by Lewis Vulliamy. Inside some higher church fittings remain but the church is now used by a more informal evangelical congregation. It was recently closed for ceiling repairs and clearly there are asbestos issues as well.
St Bartholomew (former), Coventry Street, Bethnal Green
By William Railton and dating from 1843-44, it was converted to flats in the 1990s.

By Edward Blore in 1838, made redundant in 1986 and converted to flats in 2001-2002.

Our Lady of the Assumption, Victoria Park Square, Bethnal Green (Roman Catholic)
Behind the Museum of Childhood, a large church of 1911-12 by Edward Goldie. The interior could only be photographed from the narthex, the doors into the nave were locked.
St John, Cambridge Heath Road, Bethnal Green
Dating from 1826-28 and designed by Sir John Soane. Window tracery and much of the interior was remodelled following a fire by William Mundy in 1871. The chancel was added by Bodley in 1881. Striking station of the cross by Chris Gollon between 2000 and 2008.

St Matthew, St Matthew’s Row, Bethnal Green
In a large open churchyard this church was originally of 1743-46 by George Dance the elder, it was remodelled in the 19th century but bombed out in 1940. It was rebuilt by J. Anthony Lewis in 1958-61. The exterior was restored to its original 18th century look, but a new interior with many contemporary art works was built within the walls.

A large church by Edward Blore 1842-43 on Bethnal Green Road, converted into flats in 1990.

Built as part of a complex in 1853-55 by Gilbert Blount, with the east end completed in 1894.

St Philip (Former), Newark Street, Whitechapel
Dating from 1888-92 by Arthur Cawston, this large unfinished church is now the Queen Mary University of London Medical School library.
