St Hilda, Courtrai Road, Crofton Park

A short way south of Crofton Park Station, it is a church by Greenaway and Newberry, one of their earliest. It dates from1907.

The Ascension, Dartmouth Row, Blackheath

Built as a chapel of ease in 1697 with an apse added in 1750. The nave was rebuilt in 1838-39 and restored in 1950 by Robert Potter after war damage.

St Peter, Wickham Road, Brockley

A broad hilltop church by Frederick Marrable and dating from 1870. The tower was completed by Arthur Blomfield in 1890. The transepts have been divided off beneath the galleries and these are shown at the end of the interior images. The lighting gives a pink cast which affects some of these images. The north chancel chapel contains a large WW1 memorial to all who served from the parish but it is obscured by storage.

St Nicholas, Deptford Green, Deptford

A medieval tower of around 1500 is the oldest part. The church was built in 1697 by Charles Stanton but was badly damaged in WW2. It was rebuilt in 1958 by Thomas F. Ford.

St Luke, Evelyn Street, Deptford

End on to the street, a church of 1870-72 by T.H. Watson. It now looks to be in a poor state and has not been used for worship for several years. Inside it has been subdivided into a hall and offices at the west end with the tower and chancel remaining as a worship area. The office area is used by the Evelyn 190 advice centre.

St Paul, Deptford High Street, Deptford

One of the finest baroque churches in London. It sits in a large churchyard in Deptford town centre. It is by Thomas Archer and was built between 1713 and 1730.

St John, St Johns Vale, Deptford

A large church by P.C. Hardwick on the borders of Lewisham and Deptford high above St John’s Station. It dates from 1855.

St Mary Magdalen, Comerford Road/Howson Road, Brockley (Roman Catholic)

A church in the back streets by Young Bolton dating from 1889. It required considerable rebuilding after WW2 damage.

The Good Shepherd, Moorside Road, Downham (Roman Catholic)

Built in 1961-63 by Donald Plaskett Marshall replacing a hall that had been used since this huge LCC estate was built in the 1920s

St Cyprian (Former), Brockley Road, Brockley

The church hall of the demolished St Cyprian which was nearby in Adelaide Avenue. From 1950 it was used as a church but from 1968 it became a Roman Catholic church hall. It was demolished except for the Brockley Road elevation in 2014 and is now the entrance of a Co-op food store.
