Cathedral of St George, St George’s Road, Southwark (Roman Catholic)
The original building was by A.W.N. Pugin and dated from 1841-48, but was under-financed and never completed to Pugin’s vision. However WW2 brought severe damage leaving only the aisle walls and east end, the rest is a post-war rebuilding by Romilly Craze from 1953 to 1966. Some Pugin fittings survive in the Blessed Sacrament chapel and the Knill chantry is by E.W. Pugin. Craze’s design added a clerestory and a new Lady Chapel.

In one corner of Soho Square, the frontage gives no idea of the round-arched terracotta church behind. It was designed by Sir Aston Webb and built in 1891-93

St Andrew, Chase Side, Southgate
Alongside the road, hiding a large ASDA superstore, north west of Southgate town centre. The church dates from 1903 and is by A.R. Barker with the sanctuary and north chapel added in 1916 by Barker and Kirk. There are striking modern stations of the Cross and a Triptych and several windows by local firm Cakebread Robey.

St George, Heathrow Airport
An underground chapel in the centre of the airport, it was built in 1968 by Jack Forrest. The three apses were originally designed for the C of E, Roman Catholic and Free Churches but now there is only a single sanctuary, a chapel and a baptistery.

St Mary, Priory Road, Kilburn
On the corner of Abbey Road and Priory Road a little way east of the High Road. It was designed by F. & H. Francis and built 1857-62. The east window is by Clayton and Bell, much other glass was lost in WW2 but windows from the redundant All Souls, Loudon Road have been reset in some of the space left.

St Mary of Zion, Lower Clapton Road (Ethiopian Orthodox)
The church currently worships in St James Anglican church next door. In 2011 they acquired the Palace Pavillion nightclub that had closed in 2006 (formerly the Clapton Cinematograph built in 1910) to convert into their own church building. As of 2018 the work seems to be progressing slowly.

Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God, Trinity Road, Wood Green (Greek Orthodox)
Barely a 150 metres from St Bartholomew, this is a former Methodist church of 1872, designed by the Rev. J. N. Johnson, called Trinity Chapel that was acquired in 1970 and extensively redecorated in Orthodox style. Church website

Just off Bounds Green Road between Wood Green and Bowes Park. This is a former Baptist chapel of 1876 that was used by the Catholic Apostolic from 1904 up to the mid 1960s before passing to the Greek Orthodox church. Church website

In a former Welsh Calvinistic Methodist chapel near the Seven Sisters Road/Hornsey Road junction. The church was built in 1873 and designed by A.G. Hennell. Church website

Swedish Church, Harcourt Road, St Marylebone
Forming part of the street front, this is a building of 1910 by Axel Haig. The church is up a flight of steps on the first floor. The font, pulpit and reredos came from a previous 18th century building in Wapping.
