A short way south of the other seamen’s churches, this one was closed in 2012. The street front of 1964-1966 is by Bent Jörgen Jörgensen and Elkington Smithers, this incorporated at the rear a 1939 church designed by Wigglesworth and Marshall Mackenzie.

I used to go to Primary school next to this Church between the years of 1985-1992.

one of my best school friends lived in the church with her family. Her Father was a Priest or Deacon perhaps, her name was Ann-Ida and the family name was Fehn.

we used to go there together after school sometimes between finishing school and after school football practice. I remember going in there and it was stunning . for me I felt like I was in a secret palace I was so impressed. Best of all was being able to get some chocolate from the shop which tasted better than anything I had ever tasted before. Such fun memories. I would love to know what happened to the family. I lost touch with Ann-Ida when we left for secondary school. We met up a couple of times in the local shopping centre buying very 90’s dolphin jewellery. I heard a rumour that she went to live on an aid ship but no idea if that’s true.

    wonderful memories x
