In quiet suburbia near the station, a church of 1939-41 by Cyril Farey. There are many windows by Margaret Edith Rope, a selection of which are shown here. The modern Stations of the Cross include the less usual 15th – Resurrection. The font comes from the former City church of St Katherine Coleman.

Christ Church, Chalk Lane, Cockfosters EN4 9JQ
Down a small lane opposite Cockfosters tube station, a Commissioners style church of 1839 by H.E. Kendall. The eastern parts and north aisle were added by Arthur Blomfield in 1898.

Striking international modern of 1940 by Dom Constantine Bosschaerts. It is the parochial part of a Benedictine priory.

In quiet suburbia, a church of 1939 by Milner & Craze with the west end and tower added in 1965 by William Mulvey. The side chapel window is by Alfred Fisher.
Our Lady of Lourdes, Bowes Road, New Southgate (Roman Catholic)
A basilica design of 1936 by J.A. Crush to which a narthex was added in 1986, designed by Boris Kaye.

St Paul, Woodland Road, New Southgate
Hidden in trees very close to New Southgate station and very difficult to see properly. It is by George Gilbert Scott and dates from 1873. Since my 2013 visit, the churchyard has been tamed and the church in 2023 is a bit easier to see.
St Michael at Bowes, Palmerston Road, Bowes Park
A replacement for a G.G. Scott church. It was built in 1987, hidden away off the North Circular Road.
St John the Evangelist, Palmers Green
A prominent landmark on Green Lanes, the church was designed by John Oldrid Scott and was built 1903-1909. There is a wealth of post first world war Morris & Co glass, the east window by J.H. Dearle being particularly striking. There are more recent windows by Godard & Gibbs and a notable one of 1918 by Frank Salisbury.
St Monica, Palmers Green (Roman Catholic)
Just up the road from the Anglican parish church. It dates from 1913-14 and is by Edward Goldie. The striking east window is by Carmel Cauchi and is from 1984.
Holy Trinity, Winchmore Hill
On Green Lanes the main road through the suburb, it was originally by J.S. Alder dating from 1906-07, but apart from the tower and west end, heavily rebuilt and reorientated after a fire in 1978.
