Temple Church, Inner Temple, City of London

The Temple church is one of the round churches built by the Knights Templars. The round norman nave has a large aisled chancel attached to it. The church, one of few to charge admission, sits in the inns of temple just west of the City. It required heavy rebuilding and restoration in 1947-1957 following war damage in 1941.

St Mary, Bryanston Square

It sits facing Bryanston Square but the interior is at right angles to the portico It was designed by Robert Smirke 1821-23. The interior can be seen through glass doors hence any reflections visible in the interior shots. The shots with a white east end and screens are from 2014, those without are from 2018.

St Andrew, Romford

A backstreet church not too far west of the town centre. By John Johnson 1861-62. The east window was damaged by bombing so only the tracery lights are 19th century, the rest is from 1994 by Caroline Benyon.

St Edward the Confessor, Market Place, Romford

The town centre parish church is by John Johnson 1849-50 on the foundations of the medieval church. Several large monuments from that church are preserved within.  A very cared for interior featuring several modern stained glass windows at the west end.​

St Sepulchre, City of london

A large and much rebuilt and restored city church north of St Paul’s Cathedral. Rebuilt in the mid 15th century but heavily restored in 1667-71 after fire, so a basically gothic exterior hides a classical interior. Some windows have started as gothic been made classical and then re-gothicized.

St Stephen Wallbrook, City of London

A domed church built by Sir Christopher Wren 1672-80. Regarded by many as his finest parish church. It was restored and reordered into a central plan in 1978-87, the huge new altar is by Henry Moore. The restoration was by Robert Potter of Brandt, Potter and Partners.

St Ethelburga, Bishopsgate, City of London

A small medieval church destroyed by a bomb in 1993 and rebuilt  from 1997 by Purcell Miller Tritton

St Vedast alias Foster, City of London

By Sir Christopher Wren 1695-1701, but using some of the fabric of previous churches. The spire, which has been attributed to Hawksmoor dates from 1709-1712.  War damage meant a restoration in a collegiate style by Stephen Dykes-Bower between 1953 and 1963 with many of the furnishings coming from lost city churches

St Margaret, Lothbury, City of London

By Sir Christopher Wren  1683-92, with the tower 1698-1700 attributed to Robert Hooke. One of only two city churches with a Wren screen, like many of the furnishings it comes from a demolished City church.

St Paul, Shadwell

Alongside the busy Highway a church of 1817-21 by  J. Walters. Currently a centre of evangelical anglicanism, hence the dispiriting modernised interior.
