St Edward the Confessor, Finchley Road, Golders Green (Roman Catholic)

A prominent church north of the town centre, it dates from 1915 and was designed by Arthur Young

Our Lady of Dolours, Egerton Gardens, Hendon (Roman Catholic)

Built in 1863 and designed by Gilbert Blount, in 1927 its orientation was reversed and a new chancel and transepts built to designs by T.H.B. Scott.

Our Lady of Assumption, Links Road, Tooting

On the edge of Tooting, a church of 1988 by Paul Michelmore of Sanders & Michelmore , the west end was added in 2005 by a different, unknown architect.

St Barnabas, Gorringe Park Avenue, Mitcham

Just north of the Figges Marsh open space, this is a large church of 1914 by H.P. Burke-Downing, the adjacent hall is also by him from 1908. A north aisle was planned but has never been built.

St Olave, Church Walk, Mitcham

At the end of two dead end roads, a church of 1931 by A.C. Martin. It was financed by the sale of the suite of St Olave, Tooley St in Southwark. The pulpit and font were brought from that church. The west porch was added to the “temporarily finished” west end in the 1960s.

The Ascension, Sherwood Park Road, Pollards Hill, Mitcham

A suburban church of 1951-53 designed by Caroe and Partners.

St Mark, St Mark’s Road, Mitcham

Not far from the town centre. The church is by R.M. Chart and dates from 1899-1910. The nave is now divided off as a hall, kitchen and toilets. The worship space is in the eastern parts of the building with the orientation changed so that the sanctuary is against the south wall of the Lady Chapel. The church was badly damaged in WW2, so the organ is a memorial and the stained glass is by Lawrence Lee an dates from 1950.

St Peter and St Paul, Cranmer Road, Mitcham (Roman Catholic)

Facing Mitcham Green, this is a small church of 1888 by F.A. Walters. The font now sits outside in the garden at the east end.

St Peter and St Paul, Church Road, Mitcham

A rebuilding of the old parish church, it dates from 1819-21 and is by George Smith. It sits in a corner of a very large churchyard, well away from the centre of Mitcham.

St Cecilia, Stonecot Hill, North Cheam (Roman Catholic)

Just in Sutton borough, it was designed by H. S. Goodhart-Rendel and built in 1957.
