The Annunciation and St James (Former Romanian Orthodox usage), Croydon Cemetery, Mitcham Road, Thornton Heath
This is the chapel for the large Croydon cemetery and dates from 1897. There was no sign that this building was being used by the Romanian Orthodox church either at the building itself or at the main road entrances to the cemetery when photographed in 2019. This Romanian Orthodox community no longer uses this building, they are now based in the renovated church hall of St Peter’s on Bishopsford Road.

St Mark, Church Road, Woodcote
A large church, deep in smart suburbia, on the border between Croydon and Sutton boroughs. The building is by G.H. Fellowes Prynne, dating from 1910. A very late Morris & Co window is a memorial to J.H. Dearle their lead designer during the 20th century.

Emmanuel, Normanton Road, South Croydon
Forming an eye-catching view up Lismore Road, this is a church of 1899 by T. Roger Smith. The purple cast on some shots is due to the lighting in use during my visit.

St Antony, Wentworth Way, Hamsey Green
Right on the border with Surrey at the southern tip of Croydon borough, this is a hall church by A.W. Kenyon, built 1957. The chancel can be screened off from the hall area when the hall is in secular use.

St Mildred, Parkview Road, Addiscombe
A little nearer the centre of Addiscombe than the Roman Catholic church and Parkview Church this is a large church of 1931-1934 designed by Cecil Hare and his last church. A whole complex of buildings was constructed around its westwards and northwards to give extensive community facilities in 2007. Included in this is a small open courtyard chapel between the church and the extension. The interior of the church was redecorated in late 2018 giving it a very fresh look inside.

Parkview Chapel (Former), Parkview Road/Bingham Road, Addiscombe now Christians in Action
Built in 1913 as Chapel-of-ease. It was superseded by St Midred, just along the road in 1934. It was sold to the Open Brethren but was most recently used by an organisation called Christians in Action. The architect is unrecorded.

Our Lady of the Annunciation, Bingham Road, Addiscombe (Roman Catholic)
Not far from the Anglican St Mildred, it is a large church of 1963-1964 by Denny & Bryan. Inside one transept contains the Lady Chapel which is separated by a glass screen from the church and has its sanctuary also screened off by sliding glass doors.
St George the Martyr, Elstan Way, Shirley
The church was established in 1937 and a hall (still in use) was built. Up to the construction in 1952 of this building, designed by John L. Denman, it also functioned as the church. Some eastern additions, including the blue and cream Lady Chapel were made in 1960.

St Edmund, Mitchley Avenue, Riddlesdown
A small church of 1955 in a dip. It was designed by Laings alongside nearby housing. It is a hall church with the chancel able to be screened off from the hall area (as shown below).
