St Mark, Myddleton Square, Clerkenwell

Built by W.Chadwell Mylne of the New River Company (1826-28) whose water supply channel finished nearby. The interior was bombed out in WW2 and reconstructed in a simplified fashion.

St Mary Magdalene, Holloway Road, Lower Holloway

Built in 1812-14 by W. Wickings to provide church accommodation in Lower Holloway. It sits facing a large green set back from the road. Inside offices have been inserted under the galleries and the pews removed.

St Mary, Upper Street, Islington

Islington parish church. The tower is from 1751-54 by Lawrence Downbiggin, the body of the church was rebuilt after the 2nd world war by Seely and Paget 1954-56. The focal points are the double pulpits and a reredos which holds 8 paintings by Brian Thomas.

St Thomas the Apostle, St Thomas’s Road, Finsbury Park

1888-89 by Ewan Christian to serve the expanding suburbs and provide a higher church alternative to many other Islington churches. The current church hall was a Mission Church that was moved backwards after the church was built (last two images). There were more ancillary buildings around the east end but several have now gone. St Jude, Courtfield Gardens

The second Gunter Estate church by the Godwins from 1867-70. It is now St Mellitus Theological College.

St Paul, Onslow Square

Now an evangelical plant from Holy Trinity Brompton. It was designed by James Edmeston 1859-60.

St Peter (Former), Cranley Gardens, Kensington (now St Yeghiche Armenian Apostolic Orthodox)

From the office of the developer of the area, C.J. Freake 1866-67, built for the Church of England and made redundant in 1973. The Armenian Apostolic Orthodox church bought it in 1988 and it was consecrated for their use in 2001. W, D. Caroe added the vaulted north chancel chapel, west gallery, and organ case in 1907-1909. Caroe & Passmore made changes to the chancel in 1922. The nave pews have been replaced by ex-cinema/theatre seats.

Holy Trinity, Clarence Way, Kentish Town

By Thomas Wyatt and David Brandon 1849-50. Hidden away in back streets and behind railway arches.

Our Lady of Help of Christians, Kentish Town (Roman Catholic)

Built as a Methodist church 1864-67 by John Tarring, but taken over by the Roman Catholic church in 1969. It still looks  almost  as much Methodist as Catholic in layout.
