Built as a convent, begun in 1876 with use as a school since 1893, the chapel dates from 1884 and designed by John Francis Bentley. Its cloister features a large series of paintings (partly restored) by Mother Maycock dating from 1902-1904. The current orienation with the sanctuary at the south end is a reversal of the original layout. The Lady Chapel was originally the organ chamber.
