St Matthew, High Street, Yiewsley

Joined to West Drayton, but north of the railway line and firmly in the main shopping area stands this church of two parts. The nave is by Nicholson & Corlette 1897-98, the north aisle was the original church and is by G.G. Scott dating from 1858-59. This aisle is now separated off to form a hall area, with a modern extension and the chancel area forms a small Lady Chapel.

St Paul, Woodland Road, New Southgate

Hidden in trees very close to New Southgate station and very difficult to see properly. It is by George Gilbert Scott and dates from 1873. Since my 2013 visit, the churchyard has been tamed and the church in 2023 is a bit easier to see.

Emmanuel, Forest Gate

Forest Gate’s town centre church on a busy cross roads. It is by George Gilbert Scott dating from 1850-52. The north aisle was enlarged by W.A Coombs in 1890-91 so that the immediate impression is of a double naved church.
