On an island site, designed by F. & H. Francis 1855-56. The apse and porches were added in 1900 by W. Bassett Smith. There used to be a spire that was damaged in 1943 and removed and the tower top rebuilt in 1952. The church was closed in 1991 but restoration enabled it to partially reopen in 1995 followed by full reopening in 1997. The arches between the chancel and eastern chapels were filled at that point to enhance stability and the area under the gallery converted to form a hall and kitchen. Further structural damage led to extensive renovation in 2017-2018.
